   How You Can Help

1. Monetary

Your tax deductible gift is greatly appreciated and contributes to the success of our programs and services. Acknowledgment cards are sent for all donations.

Monetary Donations: Contributions are accepted via secured PayPal or forward a check payable to St. Vincent de Paul to 1243 N. Franklin Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.

Memorial Donations: Please provide the following information: (1) name of the deceased, (2) name and address of a family member of the deceased, (3) your name and address. An acknowledgement card will be sent to the family of the deceased and to you for your tax records.

Special Occasion: contributions are accepted for any occasion such as a wedding, birthday, Christmas, anniversary, or in memory of a loved one.

United Way: If you have the United Way's Contributor Choice at your place of work, please consider donating to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Our United Way number is 273.

Combined Federal Campaign: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an authorized charity of the 3 Rivers CFC. Our Society of St. Vincent de Paul—Council of Pittsburgh charity code is 83807.

2. Furniture

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul gratefully accepts gently used furniture items. Items can be dropped off at store locations during the hours of operation or a donor can call the main office at 412-321-1071 x501 to arrange for a donation pick-up. Pick-ups are scheduled Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays only between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. A donation receipt is left at the time of pick-up.


*To arrange for a donation pick-up in the Butler area, call 724-287-8682. Butler pick-ups are scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays only between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.


3. Clothing / Household Items

Donations of clean clothing in any condition and unbreakable household items can be placed in one of our 100 donation boxes throughout Allegheny County and the surrounding areas. Please see the donation box list for the site nearest you. (Our scheduled pick-ups are reserved for furniture UNLESS there are 20 or more bags and/or boxes of clothing and miscellaneous housewares being donated.) You can receive a receipt for your donation by calling the Donation Department at 412-321-1071 x501. Our thrift store locations are also a convenient place to donate both clothing and miscellaneous housewares. Be sure to ask the cashier for a donation receipt.


4. Vehicles

Donating your car to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul requires only a phone call from you (412-321-1071 x 501.) After submitting the information described below, you will be contacted within 3-5 business days to schedule a pick-up of your vehicle. (The contact will come from Goodwill Industries which does the car pick-up and auctioning for the Society.) At that time, the license plate is removed and the keys and title are submitted. When placing the donation, we will need the following information: (1) year and model; (2) Vehicle Identification Number-VIN; (3) Title Number; (4) approximate mileage on the car; and (5) name and address.


5. Volunteer

  • Working in one of our two main food pantries in Manchester and Butler sorting food and assisting clients.

  • Helping to sort clothes and household goods in one of our five stores or one of our two warehouses

  • Assisting with clerical work (e.g. mailings) in our central office in Manchester

  • Become a Vincentian and work with the poor in one of our 114 Conferences based out of parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh

  • Work with the men at Michael's Place by serving as a mentor, or helping to solicit clothing, toiletries, gift cards, etc. for the men

  • Assist in sorting and distributing Christmas gifts to our neighbors in Manchester
