Volunteers

Volunteering with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those in need while being part of a welcoming, inclusive, and compassionate community.

We value volunteers from all backgrounds and are committed to fostering a non-discriminatory environment where everyone’s contributions are celebrated. Whether you’re looking to share your skills, connect with others, or give back to your community, volunteering with us offers the chance to create meaningful change and bring hope to our neighbors in need.

Council Office

Volunteering in the office at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers a unique way to support our mission and make a meaningful impact behind the scenes. Our inclusive and welcoming environment values volunteers from all backgrounds, and we are committed to providing a non-discriminatory space where everyone can contribute.

Office volunteer opportunities include a variety of projects such as serving on a committee, assisting with data entry, answering or returning phone calls, helping with mailings, organizing files, and supporting special events or fundraising efforts. Your time and talents can help ensure that our programs run smoothly and that we continue to serve our neighbors in need with compassion and efficiency.

If you would like to become a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul in the Council’s administrative office (on-site and remote work available), please contact Jennifer Thoma at 412.321.1071x1204 or jthoma@svdppitt.org.

Thrift Stores

Whether it is a couple hours a week or 8 hours a day, whether individually or with a group, we appreciate our in-store volunteers! Our in-store volunteers do the following: greet customers, bag product, move clothing, assist on the docks, social media posts, organize media (music and books), and general housekeeping.
If you or your company would like to volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores, please contact Jennifer Thoma at 412.321.1071x1204 or jthoma@svdppitt.org.

Vincentians

Becoming a volunteer Vincentian with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a profound way to live out your faith and make a direct impact in the lives of those in need. As a Vincentian, you’ll join a supportive community dedicated to serving our neighbors with compassion, dignity, and respect. This role goes beyond traditional volunteering—you’ll have the opportunity to meet with individuals and families in need, provide tangible assistance, and offer hope and encouragement during their most challenging times. Whether through home visits, spiritual outreach, or supporting community programs, becoming a Vincentian allows you to embody the spirit of charity and transform lives, including your own.
